I disagree with this statement. In my opinion, human is only primate species to be contented their life. In the some researches regarding a happiness of their life with their properties relatively, people who have a lack of properties are satisfied than those who do not have enough in a different country. For example, Nepal, It is the one of poorest country in the world. However, they are the one of most satisfied country in the world. Most common males who live in Nepal work as a potter. From these circumstances, it is an obviously not easy to feel satisfying about their life. However they always try to keep their happiness without any valuable things from their culture. In conclusion, as a human being, people are only species who can feel fulfill within what they have.
DeleteI agree with this statement, but with reservations. It is obvious true that most of the people are always unsatisfied about their lives. People have the nature to pursue more physical and mental enjoyment, which is the motivation enforced the whole society progressing. No changes or improvements will come if people are satisfied what they have. However, some people tend to keep their lives in a familiar route day after day. For instance, seniors are more likely to live in a peace and quiet environment. The changes may ruin their feeling of happiness while a fixed life may bore most young people in this world. Therefore, I believe that most of the people are always unsatisfied their lives.
DeleteI agree with this statement. It is an instinct of people. Look at the world we can see exactly: We take airplane, we use computers, we read books under lights, etc. One important reason that we have those things today is because we are never satisfied with what we have. For example, people did not have boat in the past. They were not satisfied with just swimming in water. So they invented boat to travel on the sea. People were not satisfied with just walking on the road. So they invented bikes, cars and trains. When people have one sweetener, they want more. We have the modern life since we are never satisfied with what we have. The society is developing all the time. Every day is a newer day than yesterday. If people are all satisfied with what they have, the society will not develop and people would never have a modern society like today. So it is an indispensable instinct to people.

Life is like a rainbow in the sky, it has many different thoughts challenging each other just like a rainbow`s colors. The human thoughts are a lot with many differences among them. There is no doubt, it makes people be envious against each other and lead they try to get what the rest of people have. Furthermore, it is impossible because there are many things that need entire life to gain, while everyone has a specific time of life. For example, having a brand new modern car, that needs a vast amount of money to buy it whereas most of people do not have enough money to get it. To collect the money, it needs an intelligent mind to work for and a long time to do. This makes people hopeless with producing virtual dreams that can not become true. Finally, people should be acquittal to what they have so they can avoid stresses and try to make them be convicted to life. If not, they will not be satisfied with what they have.
DeleteThis is the human’s nature that they never satisfied. The human capability is same as huge cup that how much have added water, it will not be full. I believe that human in the world has great ability such as thinking, talking and creating, therefor they every time need to find new things. Those abilities help them to do unusual works and achieve unbelievable level of life. Also, I think it is universe properties that persuade people to find new things. Human is interested in to solve complicated things and discover new part of life, world and even himself. In my opinion human’s spirit need to refresh every time and accept new things because it is infinite and insatiable.

ReplyDeleteHonestly,I totally agree with this statement without any hesitation. That is what we called human beings. One of the most greedy animals in the world, always pursuing supreme power and never satisfied. But in a objective and fair perspective, we should notice that this phenomenon is caused by two complicated factors. The first factor I want to mention is the social environment. In fact, our world is full of avarice, competition and comparison. People are in fond of comparing their children or themselves with other successful person. Secondly, propaganda also has impact on people's behaviors. We always see those kind of slogan in billboards, such as 'Don't give up your dreams' and 'You deserve a better one'. These slogan actually affect our behaviors unconsciously. They make us believe the rule which came from Napoleon: Every French soldier carries a marshal's baton in his knapsack. In other words, who doesn't want to be general is not a good soldier. In general, I consider that since every coin has two sides, this phenomenon shouldn't always be the bad thing. If we can apply our endless avarice to pursue knowledge, the world will take a new look without a doubt.

ReplyDeleteI completely agree with this statement as long as people dont understand that "Contentment never runs out". People always want to has something new or something different, however; this desire will never, ever end up. People should be thankful for what they have and be appreciated what they have to keep them going. In addition, when people focus on what they don not have, they will never ever reach to what they want! Every one lives in good condition than others, so people should realize that to satisfy themselves. In brief, thinking about what you have is more important than looking for what you dont have.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with the above statement because people are never satisfied. They always aim at the things which they don't have and this is one of the reason for innovation and also for discovering new things till now which makes our life more comfortable. Society always utilizes the existing technology and simultaneously makes efforts to further develop the new and elaborate technology, which will be an improvement over the existing technology because they are never satisfied with the existing technology. For example, the poor wish to be rich, and the rich wish to be richer which shows the greedy nature of human beings. Finally, as people are not satisfied with the things they have, we are able to see wonders in the world.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the statement that people are not satisfied with what they have. This is an inherent quality in every human being. The greatest innovations and discoveries made by man from time to time is an example of this. For example previously we do not use to have telephones. Transferring information from one place to another used to be very difficult. People use to sent post letters which usually took lot of time to receive information but with telephones information can be passed in few seconds.So I belive that man should not be satisfied with what he had.

DeleteThey deserve such a high salary. First of all, no matter how high the salary is, everybody deserves the payback of their work. Moreover, those successful athletes or entertainers have to work extremely hard and take some risk before they achieve their great goals. For example, the Chinese tennis player Na Li who won a Great Slum in French Open got good prize money in that year. The prize was not only the payback for this one game; it was also the payback for her hard training for several years. Not everybody can go through those hard training and risk and finally reach the achievement. In addition, those famous people always give the whole society positive effect and lead the people pursue their happiness. The high salary for them will encourage more and more people to set them as role models.
DeleteObviously this is really a tough question and it also struggled me for a long time. Although many people consider that those called famous athletes and entertainers don't deserve to have salaries of millions dollars a year because the salaries are much more higher than any other people who are in the middle and upper class. They always declare that famous athletes and entertainers are all bone-idle and still can earn a lot everyday. As it comes to me, I totally disagree with them because I believe their views are quite simplistic and ridiculous. First and foremost, not all the people have talents and become a professional athlete or entertainer. Even though they have talent, they still have to take a lot of extremely pains to reach a such high level. Secondly, salary is the most significant form to express one's contribution. Each impressive althlete or entertainer who Spare no effort to fight in stadium or perform in stage deserves to get a high payment due to his/her achievement. Last but not least, athletes and entertainers play a very important role in society, they not only improve people's quality of life, but also convey their positive emotions to other people.

I have felt puzzled for a long time for this question. Because I do not think these people deserve such high salaries. Why these people could get such high salaries? Athletes and entertainers like singers and dancers also are kinds of job like other jobs. But athletes and entertainers can get too much more money than other jobs. All the people are working hard every day. It is not fair for other people. I know a reason for they get such high salaries is that they are public figure. We can easily know what they are doing everyday from the TV or magazines. So they are models to us. If they always do good things, they will influence us. Unfortunately many athletes did lots of bad things. For example, Tianshuo Zang is a very famous singer and also rich in China. The figure he gave people is that he was a good man. But finally magazines published what he did. In fact he is not a good man at all. He did many bad things. He even killed one person before. So we can see a murder can get such high salary as an entertainer. It is not worth it. There is no reason for these people getting such high salaries.

I think that is a reasonable salary for well-known athletes and entertainers. There are several reasons for it. First of all, in the aspect of their time, most of them have very shot time period to work in their field. As they are getting old, the money they can earn is growing less and less. Also, if they have a serious injury, they would be retired in very young age. It is a kind of burden of risk. Therefore, when they can get lots of money, they should have material riches as much as possible. Secondly, in order to become famous person in their field, they absolutely need a good luck. Uncountable people try to be a famous or best one in their fields for getting lots of money. However, without any luck, it could not be an easy way. Many people struggle in their field but it does not work well. It means that the people who get lots of salary have had a lucky from their effort in their life.
DeleteThis question can not be answered by yes or no because it could be ether one or both together. These athletes are performing unique talents that the others can not do it. Also, they are attractive to the spectators. Nowadays, for example, soccer has billions of spectators who have been addicted to watch the games. This big ratio lead the clubs collect millions of dollars that part of it will be given to the famous players. Most of the rich players pay vast amount of their money to charity. These allow the players have unexpected salary without making envious among people. On the other hand, spending millions of dollar for a normal person who play well is ridiculous because it does not make sense that a player gets salary that can not be compared to the presidents or the inventor professors which they might be able to change the worlds rout. Moreover, by giving high salary to the famous athletes the market prices will rise and it makes people`s life more expensive and more difficult. Briefly, it is something that can not be stopped because it is a part of the world`s custom.
ReplyDeleteI think this amount money can be used in other ways because I believe athletics and entertainers never produce things or change the lifestyle, however they make funny time for other people but this salary is more than their works. I believe this money can be used in the true way because many people in the world need this money to have better life. This money can help to improve public health, education system in the countries that are poor and suffer from poverty. These athletes are respectful persons because they try to raise their countries flag but their salary sometimes is more than their activates.

ReplyDeleteArt and music are important to students and they can develop abilities of students. For example, art and music will ignite the sparks of human minds, and will spur us to quarry the beauty of the nature. On the other hand, art and music can help students to form critical logical mind that is crucial for making a disinterest decision. As we know many students like to study art and music, so it is good for these students if they go study art and music in secondary school and it will improve the skills for their academic ability. However, not all students like to study art and music. For some students, art and music will be burdens for them. If these students go to study art and music, there is no advantage. In contrast, it is waste time for them. So in my opinion, not all students should be required to study art and music in secondary school.

I am in favor of this statement. To give students the art and music courses in secondary school is an efficient way to enhance the overall quality of the young people. After all, various courses including art and music can enrich the students’ learning area. All students will acquire some fundamental knowledge through those courses, which is obvious good for their lives. As to the students who find they enjoy art and music class, they will gain the largest benefits. They may be encouraged to explore their potential in those fields. In the other hand, for those students who do not like art and music class, they still have a chance to know some general knowledge.
DeleteI agree with studying music and art in secondary school because of some important aspects. First, both music and art are one of the well-known professional classes that everyone tries to get some information about them. Also, nowadays, most of the people are addicted to listen to music or to take pictures, if we check anyone`s cellphone, we can feel it clearly that their cellphone has lots of pictures and music. Second, learning music and art makes the students relax and feel the happiness of life because these kinds of classes give them pleasure and introduces their hobby things, like the different kinds of music and instruments or letting them to figure out how the famous actors or actress are working and making new product. Finally, these classes can tell the students about their countries heritage and history, this lead them be proud of their country.
DeleteI disagree with that in the secondary school, students need to study art and music. Some people say that art, music, and drama should be part of every child's basic education because it both influences the individual and the society in a positive way. However, at the time, art and music are not important subjects for science and math students. These are totally different subjects to learn for those whose major is science and math. These subjects will not be useful even in their future. Those students might regret wasting their time learning art and music. Also, these subjects require heavy charge for tuition and big burden for their parents. Therefore, I insist on that all students need to learn and feel art and music as a compulsory subject in their school.

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I insist that the more valuable thing for contributing for a better society is a science. There are several reasons why I assert it. First, we are living in totally developed society with a tremendous technology. For example, the Internet makes people learn an unlimited knowledge. From the uncountable web sites, people can find what you want to know and all about human being. In addition, those who cannot easily go to school with special reasons, such as disables, can get normal education. This should be pivotal function to develop our society.
DeleteSecond, as society evolves, the number of suicide is dramatically increasing. The reason why they choose it is starting from feeling alone. However, as technology develops, with their smartphone, they can appear and share their feeling with the public. This is sincerely essential function in this society because it is normally hard to get opportunities to feel share in real world. Therefore, I thoroughly believe that the society by scientists is more wonderful than artist’s society.
I think both artists and scientists contribute greatly to society. In the first place, scientists made great contribution to society. With the help of scientists, we can use many high-tech products, such as refrigerators, air conditioners and so on. If we wanted to go to another city, we could use a few hours to get there by car. We also can communicate to each other even though we are in different countries. All these are what scientists give us. In the second place, contributions of artists are important to society too. When we look around, we can find arts are full of our word. Buildings, parks and even clothes have arts in them. With society developing, arts develop at the same time. Artists can find what is beautiful in society. With contributions of artists, our lives become colorful. The last but not the least, the contributions of artists and society are closely related. When scientists make their products, arts must in their mind. So they can do their work more perfect. When artists practice arts, modern technology cannot leave their mind. So which type of contribution is valued more by society is difficult to discern. They are both important to the society.

DeleteScience is that peaceful weapon that protects our life at many times and makes our life easier. Science which has invented by the scientists, have been developed in many ways like, electricity, transportation facility, communication devices, and many fascinating things that help us at any time. Scientists have contributed vast amount of serving to human beings that can not be mentioned even by a shelf of books.
On the other hand, the Artists have showed a big role in this world. They have contributed life style to people and they have made life more suitable to society by inventing different ways of life. For instance, they have invented music that make people relax and help them be away from stress. Also, they have developed painting and drawing that tells us different aspects of life and shows past life. The Artists are in a high level of society`s leadership.
In conclusion, both Scientifics and artist are contributing good things to life. But, in my opinion, scientists have rolled more than the Artists in society because their way is penetrated in everything and no one can live without science whereas, life can proceed without art.
I think society undoubtedly benefits from the work of its members,they can be both scientists and artists.But today it values the contribution of scientists far more.Firstly,if I had to look at how my society treats scientists and artists, then the former clearly come up on top: they are usually well-paid, receive interesting job opportunities, and contribute to society. On the other hand becoming an artist is often not recommended.Secondly, scientists create processes and tools which make our society work and our economy function. They help keep offering to our most important needs.Last but not least,scientists can save lives by creating medicine and life-saving devices which artists can not do.

ReplyDeleteFrom one hand, artist gets inspiration from what he sees, hears and feels about objects or events. The emotion recollected in tranquility becomes the art and it takes various forms such as music, poetry, sculpture, dance etc. This art help us to take away our stress. Hence, the world would have become boring without artists.
On the other hand, there are many contributions by scientists also. We have electricity, light, flights to run our life easily. We also have internet and mobiles through which we can communicate all over the world. Scientists are able to save many lives by finding variety of medicines for different diseases. So, scientists play an important role in the society.
In conclusion, both the artists and scientists play an important role in the progress of society and ones work cannot be overestimated by the other
In my opinion science and art is two important part of society. Science helps society to improve life style and increase health, technology and knowledge of people, and I believe art is related to spirit, art helps to people to grow up their spirit and give them peace.

In my opinion both of art and science are undeniable activities in the society if you want to have health and modern society you need science and if you want to have happy and peaceful society you need art. I believe these are same as feet of human and both of the are necessary.
BLOG POST 5: Do you agree with the following statement? It is better to be a member of a group than to be a leader of a group. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
ReplyDeleteThe society we live now is a more complex and stressful than at least 10 years ago. In this social problem, it is more important to get a less stress. Being a leader of a group means that having a heavy responsibility to deal with followers and all kind of works. For instance, if something happened to the group, the only person who should take upon it is the leader. Thus, the best way to avoid a massive stress from work is being a member of the group. Some people assume that being a member becomes a kind of passive person. However, it is not true since the members also can have a voice and an opinion to change something for their group with a less stress. In addition, members do not need to spend much their invaluable time to try to develop about their work or project. It is a really important thing to keep their family in this society which is easily broken the relationship. Therefore, I agree with the above statement.
DeleteA leader of a group should shoulder more responsibility than a member. Perhaps this is why some people feel that it is better to be a member for a group then to be a leader. But I disagree with it. Because leadership could bring many advantages. First, a leader makes a greater contribution to the group. In a group, the leader makes decisions and determines the operation that the group will take. Second, a leader in his position can discover what he is good at and what he needs to develop. So he/she will raise his skills more easily. Last but not the least, some people are born to be leader. Some people are broadminded, optimistic, earnest in doing things, sensitive and decisive. They feel satisfied to being leaders because they can exert their maximum energy. So it is not absolute that it is to be a member than to be a leader of a group.
DeleteGroup work is usually consisted of some different level status, like simple member, active member, assistant leader, and the leader. Every status has it`s own responsibility. But, with having a higher level, responsibility increases. Being a leader of a team is more difficult than being a member for many reasons.
ReplyDeleteLeadership gives lots of serious responsibilities and more focusing on every issue. Every decision should be said wisely and effectively. This makes the leader do brain work more, and even after coming back home needs to think about the activities and the critical plans. But, being a member of a group is less responsibility and a simpler life routing. After finishing the job, you do not have to be worry about your next plan at work. Also, the member can take a day off easier than the leader. Being a member is less stressful.
On the other hand, being a leader is more professional and respectful. It gives the leader a higher status level with more knowledge. Furthermore, the leader gets more knowledge and more salary. Overall, the leader will be famous and meets the famous personalities. However, being a leader has simple personality and there are many restrict rules from the leader that the members should follow. Also, the members should do physical works more with having a lower salary. Leadership is more professional and more educated with having a higher status level.
In conclusion, both status has advantages and dis advantages. In my opinion, everyone is responsible. But, being a leader is more difficult and more stressful.
Being a member or a leader in a group? It is really tough to choose.These two positions contain many differences which make many people discuss and consider which one is better. Is it better to be a member of a group than the leader of a group? In our view, we believe that it is better to be a leader than to be a member in a group.First of all, being a leader can improve your communication skills and your arrangement skills. Also it is beneficial for someone to gain more speaking skills and other knowledge from being a leader. Finally,a position as the leader can give you more opportunities for your future career and education. It actually gives you more chances to improve yourself.Above all, I think it is better to be a leader instead of being a member in a group!
